PROMERIS FOR DOGS ACTIVE INGREDIENTS
There are two active ingredients contained in Promeris for dogs, each of which is either effective at controlling fleas or ticks. Amitraz is an antiparasitic ingredient that classified as an alpha-adenergic agonist. Amitraz is primarily used to control tick infestations in dogs, though may cause sedation among other side effects. Amitraz should also be used with caution in diabetic dogs, since it can have an effect on blood glucose levels. Metaflumizone is the other active ingredient contained in Promeris for dogs, which is a novel sodium channel blocker insecticide. Metaflumizone is a relatively new chemical compound, which has been used to effectively control fleas in both dogs and cats with relatively high effectiveness.
CUSTOMER REVIEWS AND RATINGS
Customer reviews of Promeris for dogs are relatively mixed. Though many dog owners report using Promeris for dogs without any problems, some pet owners state that they have experienced potentially alarming side effects from use of this product. Most of the stated side effects listed in negative reviews are lethargy, muscle spasms, vomiting and diarrhea. These side effects are relatively rare, though are cited by some veterinarians as only being present when the product formula is ingested by an animal. When applying Promeris for dogs, it is very important to apply the product in a spot where the dog is not able to accidentally ingest the product formula. Hi,
Well my dog is a Siberian Husky, after him being about 7 months of age he started loosing his hair fairly quickly, came out to be Derma-Mange or something of that sort, Hereditary parasite as explained by our vet. He issued us Promeris with Ivermectin as a ingredient, and i cant thank him enough. He as never had any side effects, his hair is better than ever and being a once a month application is make it so much easier on us.

Hey Bob
Thanks for your interesting contribution to my blog. I’ve never heard of this before and perhaps it explains some of the less serious lethargy reactions that we read about.
Nik
Our 55 lb. Bull Terrier had a lethargic reaction following the first application of Promeris. Our vet determined he had low blood sugar and recommended a tablespoon of Karo syrup in his food serving before and following application. This has resulted in nil reaction.
The minimum dosage is too big for a 4 mo pug. that’s why. you should have halved the minimum. the EPA is mandating more accurate dosing.
Hi Eric
Thank you for sharing your unfortunate experience with Promeris for Dogs. I hope Molly has made a full recovery and remains fit and healthy.

My name is Eric and I have a 4 month old black pug. Me and my wife took her to the vet. last week for red mange. Our vet perscrbe the Product Promeris that is put out by Fort Dodge. 20 min. after applying the produt to her back between the shoulder. she became lethargic, and started having diarrhea. The next day she was still having the same syptoms so we took her back to the vet. He gave her a atispasmatic shot and some pills for the diarrhea. But this did not seem to stop the diarrhea. So my wife took her to another vet in the next town for a second opinion this vet said that the promeris was acting like a poision on our dog. He took her off the diarrhea pills and put her on an antibotic (carafate) and a pill to coat her stomach (metro). Today our little pug (Molly) has recovered and is doing well. We will never use the Product Promeris ever again on any of our pets.
