K9 ADVANTIX REVIEWS
K9 Advantix is a flea, tick and mosquito control product for dogs that is manufactured by the Animal Health division of the Bayer Company. In addition to manufacturing K9 Advantix for dogs, Bayer Animal Health also manufactures Advantage, a popular flea control topical application. The Animal Health division of Bayer mostly specializes in the creation of prescription medications for veterinary hospitals, though has a specialized interest in the eradication and control of parasites. Bayer was first founded in German in 1863, by Friedrich Bayer and his partner, Johann Friedrich Weskott. Bayer is mostly well-known for their production of aspirin, which first became a registered trademark of the company in 1899. Eventually, “Aspirin” lost its trademark status with Bayer, but only in the United Kingdom, France, and the United States. Other countries, such as Germany, Canada and Mexico still recognize aspirin as being a registered trademark of Bayer.

K9 ADVANTIX PRODUCT INFORMATION
K9 Advantix is a specialized formula developed specifically for dogs, and cannot be used for cats in any circumstances. K9 Advantix is only available by obtaining a prescription from a licensed veterinarian. K9 Advantix kills and repels ticks, fleas and mosquitoes (which may carry heartworm). In approximately twelve hours, K9 Advantix can kill from 90-100% of all fleas present on a dog’s skin. Because K9 Advantix is a Systemic formula, it lasts for a full month before reapplication of the product is needed.
K9 ADVANTIX FORMULAS
K9 Advantix is currently available in four different formulas for dogs, which are classified according to a dog’s total weight. There is one formula for dogs 10 lbs and under, for dogs from 11 – 20 lbs, from 21 – 55 lbs, and a formula for dogs over 55 lbs in weight. The active ingredients in all of these formulas are Imidacloprid 1-6-Chloro-3-Pyridinyl Methyl-N-Nitro-2-Imidazolidinimine (8.8% concentration) and Permethrin (44% concentration). Inert ingredients make up 47.2% of K9 Advantix formula. This formula is available as a four-dose package, which costs from $45 - $55, depending on the retailer.
CUSTOMER REVIEWS AND RATINGS
Most consumer reviews about K9 Advantix formula for dogs are overwhelmingly positive. However, there were a few noted complaints. Some dog owners stated that their dogs began to become re-infested with fleas only one week after applying K9 Advantix to their dog. Some owners listed K9 Advantix as being effective for three weeks, but seeming to wear out around the fourth week. In addition to this, some dog owners complained that the formula was far too oily, and caused a residual oily spot on their dog that lasted almost a full week. However, many dog owners state that they have used K9 Advantix on a monthly basis, without their dog ever being subject to additional fleas. The fact that K9 Advantix also repels mosquitoes was a fairly positive selling point for many dog owners, since some mosquitoes may carry the heartworm parasite. While K9 Advantix is not necessarily marketed as also being a replacement for heartworm medication, it may be useful as a supplemental treatment to help prevent heartworm, as stated by some pet owners.
