ADVANTAGE MULTI FOR CATS REVIEWS
Advantage Multi for Cats is a formula manufactured by Bayer Animal health to control several different internal and external parasites in cats. Advantage Multi for Cats is designed to help eradicate fleas, though is also formulated to prevent heartworms, roundworms, hookworms and ear mites in cats. Because Advantage Multi for Cats does not currently include any medication to help prevent tick infestations, many cat owners choose to use it along with a supplemental tick prevention product. Advantage Multi for Cats is produced by Bayer’s Animal Health division, which also produces several different parasite control products for both dogs and cats.
ADVANTAGE MULTI FOR CATS PRODUCT FORMULAS
Advantage Multi for Cats is currently available in three different specialized formulas for cats, which are grouped based on cats in a certain weight tier. The formulas are designed for cats from 2 to 5 lbs, from 5.1 to 9 lbs, and from 9.1 to 18 lbs. In order to correctly apply this formula, it is highly recommended that the entire contents of the application tube be squeezed onto the back of a cat’s head, or between the shoulder blades. It is very important to put the product as close to the skin as possible, as this helps it to have the highest rate of effectiveness at preventing parasites.
ACTIVE INGREDIENTS
Advantage Multi for Cats contains both imidacloprid and moxidectin as active ingredients. The inclusion of two active ingredients allows the formula to have a multi-pronged approach to preventing parasites, and is why Advantage Multi for Cats is effective against many different parasite species. Imidacloprid is an insecticide that is modeled after nicotine, and was specially designed by Bayer. Imidacloprid is effective at killing adult fleas, flea larvae, biting fleas and flea eggs. Moxidectin is classified as a parasiticide, and is effective at eradicating many different intestinal worms, as well as heartworm. Moxidectin is also known for preventing the occurrence of ear mites in cats.
